Beach Week Recap!

We had a great time at the beach last week!  The weather was perfect except for a few rainy days which weren't bad at all.  We spent a lot of time on the inlet which was great.  Kevin's grandparent's had a beach house on the inlet, so growing up, he spent more time there than on the beach.  I have to say that I have fallen in love with being in the inlet.  I've always thought it was beautiful, but I grew up more of a beach girl (until my dad started taking his boat for the week, that is).

The boys had a great time playing with their cousins.  With seven people under 13 in the house, there was not a dull moment!

We went for a nice boatride Saturday night.  We had both a regular boat and John boat with us, so we all had a place to go.

We spent most of the day Sunday on the beach.  The weather was great!  The boys loved splashing in the water, jumping waves, and swimming with us in the deep water.  We (Kevin) found lots of sharks teeth, too!

On Sunday night, it was slightly rainy.  Kevin, Roy, Scott, and Madeline decided to go seining.  If you don't know what that is (Don't feel bad, I didn't know what it was until Kevin!) it's essentially pulling a big net with a pole on each end through the ocean to see what you can catch.  They caught some fish; I caught a swollen leg.  I am very allergic to shellfish and seafood and can't eat any of it.  I know this stinks and I crave crab quite often.  I didn't know that I could have a reaction from a fish touching me!  I was holding the bucket and Kevin threw a fish that hit my leg instead of the bucket.  I didn't think anything of it at the time (who would?), but a few minutes later, my pompano hit was itching like crazy and swelling.  After some Benadryl for the reaction and some Coke for the nausea (yes), I was good.  And slept like a baby.

We went to Fudrucker's for lunch on Monday as it was a rainy day.  I hadn't ever eaten there before and it was good.  We took the younger kids (our boys and Michaela) with us after lunch and stopped by a relatively new park that has some old fighter planes in it.  The boys loved it and I think Michaela did, too!

We had a crab trap set off the dock that fascinated the little ones.  They wanted to pull it up every few minutes to see what was in it.  On our last night, Kevin steamed the crab.  I've heard it was delicious!

I went canoeing with the boys some.  I don't have a picture of Kaden and me, but here's Captain K.C. and me!

One night, we took the kids down to Sam's Corner (it's infamous in Garden City Beach, SC).  We rode go carts, played games in the arcade, and got some ice cream.  We also got the boys some hermit crabs!

We also went shopping.  Kaden liked pushing Mia in her stroller (and riding, too!).  On the way back to the house, we stopped for frozen yogurt.  K.C. loved it!

Another afternoon, we went shrimping.  This was fun!  Kevin and the boys floated back to our house, too.  I think they loved it!  Poor Scott got cut on a submerged, oyster-laden cement block and had to get three staples!  He missed out on our trip to the water park which was later that night!  Speaking of the water park, we had a blast.  The boys loved the slides and slid by themselves some.  We were so proud of them!  They also loved the wave pool and the lazy river (for us, it was more like a work out river)!

It was a great vacation!
