When I sit down to blog, many times the words flow freely. Other times they don't. I blog to remember the things that happen in our lives and it's my prayer that you are blessed by the things you read. I try to be transparent in my posts and write in a way that reflects my family and me in our true light. Yes, that means that the majority of my posts are light-hearted and fun. It means that photos of a family filled to the brim with love for one another are posted. It means I talk about how much I love my husband and our children. It means I'm not ashamed to talk about my love for Christ and what He's done in my life. Sometimes though, it means that there will be posts like this one.
My husband lost his job yesterday. Unless you're living under a rock, you've heard about the settlement that was reached yesterday morning between the nation's largest banks and our government over foreclosures. Unless you're living under a gigantic rock, you know that the mortgage industry has run rampant with problems these last few years. Unfortunately, my husband's job was affected by this. He was employed as a vice president at one of the nations largest banks. The team he was over was doing foreclosure review. The settlement means that not only he along with over 300 others he worked with at the site in our town are now without jobs, it means that there are thousands more within his bank and the other large institutions that are in the same boat. It's sad.
I am so thankful that Kevin is the man he is. I am so thankful that my husband isn't and wasn't ever defined by his job. I am thankful that his family is what matters to him.
I know that there will be good days and bad days. I know that things may not always be easy. But most of all, I know that we are together and that God will continue to provide for us as He always has.
We are fortunate to be in the position we're in. There are so many that are less fortunate. I am thankful for our blessings.
I am thankful that Kevin is the man he is and that he is positive and hopeful. I am thankful for his attitude and his actions. I am thankful that we have experiences in our life that we can look back on and see how God brought us through some really tough times as we know He will do for us yet again.
On my computer at work is a post it with this verse written on it: He is before all things and in Him, all things hold together. Colossians 1:17 How true this is!
My friends, I ask that you will keep us in your prayers during this time of transition. We give thanks to God for the abundance of blessings He's bestowed upon us and we ask for His wisdom and guidance. We ask that He will not only provide a new job for Kevin quickly, but a job that he will love. We ask that God will be glorified and that our faith will remain strong. He has blessed us tremendously in so many ways and we hold fast to the knowledge that He is continuing to work out all things according to His plan (Romans 8:28) which is infinitely greater than anything we could imagine.
