A Day of Love

Happy Valentine's Day!

The day we got engaged.

I haven't ever been one who gets hung up on Valentine's Day.  Though it is a special day and gives us a good reason to show those we love a little extra love, shouldn't that be what we do everyday?  I do get excited putting together gifts for my husband though.  I like doing little things that take time, thought and effort as opposed to something ordinary.  I'm excited to give him his gifts tonight {and I can't wait to share them with you next week!}.

On this day when love is in the air, I started thinking about all the reasons I love my husband.  I'm a pretty lucky woman if I do say so myself.

His kind heart.

His faith.

His humor.  He makes me laugh!

His confidence.  It was one of the first things that attracted me to him!

His honesty.

His loyalty.

His loving heart.

His good looks.  I happen to think he's ridiculously handsome.

His sense of self.  He's confident in who he is and there isn't much better than that.

His caring nature.

His desire to provide.

His positivity.

His smile.

Those hazel eyes.

The way he puts our family first.

His voice.

His love.

{I could go on and on.}

Then I started thinking about the things that make me love him even more.

The way he looks and smiles at me.

The kind of father he is.  Seeing him with our sweet boys makes me fall in love with him over and over again.  I always thought that was how I'd feel about my husband when I had children, and even though I didn't birth the boys, it has the same effect on me!

The way he encourages me and pushes me.  He knows my dreams and encourages them.

The way we both work hard together in our home.  It's not left up to just him or just me.

The fact that he's as content sitting at home watching TV or a movie as he is getting dressed up to go out.  {Who am I kidding, he'd much prefer to be at home.}

The ease at which I feel with him - like I can do anything.

Most of all, I love knowing that he is exactly the person God made for me to share my life with.  Our love story could only have been written by God.  It's evident.  He is the man I prayed for since I was the age to know you should pray for things like your future husband.  And he's the man I asked God to prepare me for.  There were bumps along the way for each of us before we knew the other existed, but those bumps make us a stronger couple today.  I wouldn't erase the mistakes of my past or his because ultimately, they molded and shaped us into the people we are.  Yes, it would be easier if those mistakes hadn't happened, but we wouldn't be who we are.

Happy Valentine's Day, Kevin!  Thank you for being my best friend, better half and one true love!

I love you!

Where you go, I'll go.  Where you stay, I'll stay.
