To my mother.

Dear Mama,

Happy Mother's Day! When I was growing up and dreaming about the future as I often did, I always wanted to be so much like you. I had an amazing childhood and it was all thanks to you (and of course Daddy, too). Thank you for always being you. Thank you for being involved. Thank you for baking cookies, taking walks, reading with me and teaching me the things you taught me. Thank your for hours and hours of Andrew Lloyd Weber music-filled Sunday afternoons, for barbecue chicken on all my "occasions", for teaching me the value of preserving memories and finding joy in the little things. Thank you for all the shopping trips, dinners out and late night talks.

I am the person I am today because of you. I am the wife I am today because of you. And I am the mother I am today because of you.

Thank you for always loving me, trusting me and believing in me. The life of faith and dependence on Christ you instilled in me, the confidence you built within me and the love you've always filled me with are just three of the many things I hope to pass on to my children. You always told me, particularly when I didn't agree with you about something, that I would understand when I was a mom. I don't know if there are many truer words spoken than those.

For these things and many more, I am thankful. I thank God for you everyday. I was certainly blessed when I was born into our family with you as my mother.

I love you more than words can say!

Anna
