The FOURTH and an amazing weekend!

This long weekend was a blast. It was seriously one of my favorite weekends {I think I say that about most weekends with my family.}.

On Friday, we lounged around our house for part of the day. The past few weekends have been busy or we've been gone, so we haven't had a lot of leisure time to do whatever we want. After breakfast, I went for a run outside for the first time in a long time while the boys played a video game with Kevin. The humidity is insane, so I've been staying in on the treadmill more often, but Kevin has been encouraging me to run outside some to condition myself for the heat before my next race.

After a shower, K.C. rode with me to the grocery store. He's a fun little sidekick at the grocery store. I typically grocery shop alone because let's face it, I can grab everything much faster and we don't end up with too much we really don't need, but there's something really fun and special about taking your kids to the grocery store.

We picked up our favorite, Chickfila, for lunch on the way home which in my opinion, is the best lunch to eat on the 4th of July or any day for that matter.

After lunch, it was time to cook for the 4th of July party my SIL and BIL host each year.

Kaden is my little chef. He loves to be in the kitchen with me especially when sweets are involved. For the 4th of July party, we made a red, white and blue trifle using a strawberry cake I made for the red, cool whip mixture for the white and fresh blueberries as our blue. I didn't take a ton of pictures with my phone this weekend, so I don't have too many pictures, but it was fun!

We also iced a sheet cake and Kaden decorated it with sprinkle stars and we wrote "God Bless America" on it. And we made brownies. There was lots of cooking going on at our house Friday morning!

We headed over to Meredith's Friday afternoon for swimming, a cookout and fireworks. The boys are doing a great job swimming this year. I'm so proud of them! They even like to jump off of the diving board.

When I said I didn't take many pictures this weekend, I was telling the truth. The collage above is borrowed from my mom's Facebook.

After we ate hamburgers and hotdogs, we had our annual volleyball game. It was fun!

The fireworks were great, too. The boys haven't been crazy about staying outside to watch them in years past, but this year, they did. Kaden may have sat with my dad and I on the swing and covered his ears the whole time, but he loved them.

Saturday was a fun day, too! We stayed around home most of the day and only ventured out to pick up a few things for K.C.'s birthday party. When we got home, my little chef and I whipped up blueberry cobblers for Kevin's dad's birthday.

We celebrated Roy's birthday with a delicious lasagna Saturday night. It also marked three years of me knowing the boys and Kevin's family. Special memories!

We had a great Sunday, too! We spent some time with Kevin's parents after church and last night, my parents and Nana came to visit us. We stayed outside most of the night. I love nights like that.

We also had some excitement in our house when K.C. lost his SECOND tooth when we were brushing his teeth before bed!

I don't know who was more excited - me or him! I do know who was slightly freaked out though. That would be Kevin. He doesn't like anything to do with teeth and officially declared me the tooth brusher from now on.

How was your 4th of July? Do you have any traditions?

Do you keep your kid's teeth?
